Back in October 2017, our wine maestro Mattia Bianchi has launched DIRT. at Berber & Q Shawarma Bar, celebrating the diverse soil and climates in the wine world. Once a month Mattia took on two leading sommeliers from London and beyond, as they hunt in search of the best bottles from their chosen soil: Magma (Volcanic wines), Salt (Wines of the sea) or Peak (Mountain wines). Showcasing and sharing the stories behind their bottles, from a few well known to the downright obscure, as well as other completely new to the London wine scene and sourced outside the UK. Guest sommeliers have gone head to head to find out whoever’s bins are emptied first. Each night was a wine riot and we cannot wait for DIRT. 2018!
Our restaurants will be celebrating Raw Wine London 2018, with a DIRT. wine list takeover from the 7th to the 14th of March.
Berber & Q Shawarma Bar + Grill House will firstly have wines listed by their bedrock of origin (Magma, Salt, Peak) and not their colours. Secondly, they will be running specials throughout the week with wines selected by guest sommeliers selected by Mattia. So far we have Xavier Alvarez of Trangallan, Heidi Knudsen (Ex Ottolenghi), Eduard-Charles Souchal of Manfreds in Copenaghen, Alessandra Saponara of Roganic and more to be announced.
